Chautauqua County DPF Accepting Applications for Summer Laborer Positions

FALCONER, N.Y.: -- The Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities (DPF) is accepting applications for Summer Laborer positions to help complete infrastructure projects throughout the County.    These seasonal, 40-hour per week positions typically start mid-May and end around Labor Day. Workers make $14.44 per hour and will work at various locations throughout the County. 

“The Chautauqua County DPF is expecting this to be a busy summer of projects and is glad to be able to provide these types of opportunities for qualified candidates that are looking for a summer job,”  said Brad Bentley, Director of Public Facilities. “These jobs are a great opportunity to learn what is involved with working at the DPF.”

 

This is unskilled work requiring physical strength and endurance, and a willingness to perform a variety of strenuous tasks. Typical work activities of the position include:

 

  • Assisting in the repairing of streets;
  • Raking, tamping and shoveling asphalt;
  • Cleaning streets, park areas and culverts;
  • Cutting grass, trimming shrubs, raking leaves, cutting brush, spading flower beds and assisting in grounds maintenance activities;
  • Loading and unloading trucks;
  • Acting as flag person;
  • Performing a variety of heavy building cleaning work such as washing walls and windows; and
  • May operate Non-CDL automotive equipment and trucks.

 

Interested candidates should be able to follow instructions and lift heavy weights; and be willing to perform routine manual labor and work in all weather conditions. Applicants must also have a New York State Class D Operator’s license at the time of application and during service.
