CELORON, N.Y.: --Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in the usage of disinfectant wipes and baby or sanitary wipes. The South & Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts reminds the public that these materials should be disposed of properly in the regular garbage and not disposed of in the sanitary sewer. These materials are not designed to readily breakdown and are damaging to our municipal wastewater systems and private septic systems. Although packaging may suggest that the product is flushable, they are not to be flushed.
The South & Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts appreciates the public’s assistance in this matter to prevent overflows and damages to all municipal and county wastewater systems.
