Chautauqua County Office for Aging Services (OFAS) is excited to announce a celebration we are hosting during May's Older Americans Month (OAM). This gives us the opportunity to honor YOU, the older adult community that we have the privilege to serve.
This year the OAM’s theme, “Flip the Script on Aging”, focuses on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and have meaningful conversations that can help dispel misconceptions. It is important to reframe and reshape the narrative to honor older adults rich experiences and foster age-friendly communities. This year, join us in promoting the importance of viewing aging not as a limitation but as a journey filled with purpose, exploration, and connection. At our annual CHQAging Expo and Conference you will have the opportunity to explore and connect with valuable resources in this community.

WHEN: Thursday May 22nd
WHAT will the day hold? (Click to see flyer):
- The resource fair with 50+ vendors will occur from 10AM – 2PM.
- Interactive sessions such as writing your life story, and learning how to play the Ukele will be offered between 10Am and 1PM. There will be limited seating on a first-come first serve basis in these interactive sessions.
- The afternoon will be filled with conference style informational breakout sessions at 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM. Topics such as Medicare 101, Medicare Fraud, Managing Anxiety and Depression through the Life Span, How to recognize the 10 warning signs for brain health, Scam Bingo, Estate Planning and other Legal Documents, and so many more! Limited seating and registration required for these breakout sessions.
- Lunch will be available at Food Trucks and Food Stands with cash/credit sales. Some locations will accept the CHQAging card.
WHO: All are invited to the FREE Resource Fair portion of the day. This event is meant for our older adult population as well as their children, caregivers, and aides. It is also meant for those in our community who serve older adults such as housing service coordinators.
