MAYVILLE, N.Y. – May is Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM), and the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene is excited to announce the release of the 2025 Mental Health Awareness Month Toolkit to help individuals, schools, and organizations get involved.

This year’s theme, Small Steps. Big Impact., highlights the power of everyday actions in fostering a community that supports mental well-being. The toolkit provides a variety of resources to engage the public, including art contest details, educator tips, social media content, Facebook profile frames, and information on the #MentalHealthRocksCHQ campaign.

A key feature of the toolkit is the 2025 MHAM Art Contest, which encourages creativity as a way to reflect on mental health and wellness. Entries will be accepted from April 1 through May 23, 2025.

“Providing schools, businesses, and organizations with accessible tools ensures that mental wellness remains a priority,” said Trish McClennan, Deputy Director for the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene. “This toolkit is a great way to inspire action and spread awareness throughout May and beyond.”

By making these resources widely available, the county aims to encourage meaningful conversations and community engagement around mental health.

“The toolkit is designed to make participating in Mental Health Awareness Month simple and impactful,” said Rachel Ludwig, Project Director for Chautauqua Tapestry. “Even small actions—like sharing a social media post, creating artwork, or starting a conversation—can help break down stigma and promote mental wellness.”

The toolkit is available now! To download the 2025 MHAM Toolkit and get involved, visit https://chqgov.com/mental-health-awareness-month-2025 or Tapestrychq.com.
