Arson Sentencing

District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced Monday that Aubrey Baize, age 30, of Falconer, was sentenced today, July 15th, in Chautauqua County Court by Judge David W. Foley to an indeterminate state prison sentence of 4 to 12 years after being conviction by a Chautauqua County jury in April 25, 2024 Arson in the Third Degree, a class C felony. In July 2022, the defendant intentionally started a fire in Kennedy, located in the Town of Poland, that consumed two houses and damaged others nearby.

BRIDGE NY Funding to Rehabilitate & Replace Bridges and Culverts

FALCONER, NY - In a significant boost to local infrastructure, Chautauqua County is set to receive substantial funding as part of the statewide BRIDGE NY initiative.

This program, aimed at rehabilitating and replacing local bridges and culverts, has allocated over $484 million to support 216 projects across 137 communities in New York State. Among these, key projects in Chautauqua County have been earmarked for a total of $5.784 million in funding.

MAYVILLE, NY – Just in time for the Independence Day holiday weekend, CHQ Transit is proud to launch its new Tourism Routes, offering a unique and enjoyable experience for both tourists and residents. These routes will operate on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, starting this Friday July 5, 2024
