The Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County was formed when local professionals from the mental health and other healthcare fields saw a great need in the community for support and education around suicide prevention. The Alliance is dedicated to protecting and promoting life by fostering shared responsibility through raising awareness and community support while embracing hopefulness and resiliency in the Chautauqua region.

Chautauqua County Sudden Loss Care Team is a collaborative effort of volunteers with a rich diversity of personal experience and professional skills, backgrounds, and expertise available to provide supportive services to agencies, businesses, and/or individuals in Chautauqua County who have experienced a recent suicide or sudden traumatic loss.

Sources of Strength (Sources) is a strength-based comprehensive wellness program that focuses on suicide prevention but impacts other issues such as substance abuse and violence. The program is based on a relational connections model that uses teams of peer leaders mentored by adult advisors to change peer social norms about help-seeking and encourages students to assess and develop strengths in their lives individually. SOS has been implemented in several Chautauqua County School districts and is continually expanding its reach.
