This Summer, Make A Plan To Be Healthy While Enjoying The Beautiful Natural Scenery Of Chautauqua County

MAYVILLE, N.Y. - Chautauqua County and the Health Department encourage residents to take in the beautiful natural scenery and wildlife areas throughout the County in a fun and active way. As an added bonus, residents will have a chance to win free groceries.

We have all heard about the many health and wellness benefits of physical activity and exercise.  Health experts recommend adults get 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week, but that can sound overwhelming or difficult to do. There are many fun and “gym-alternative” ways to be more physically activity, including the fun of hiking our local trails.  A 30 minute hike on 5 trails in a week fulfills all 150 recommended minutes of activity.

Program details

Sponsored by Wegmans and the Chautauqua County Health Department, The Wegmans Hit the Trail Passport is an interactive and immersive local hiking experience.  Participants will enjoy nature trails in Chautauqua County as mapped out in the Passport.  Complete trails, or segments, listed in the Passport booklet at your own pace throughout the year.  Find and capture the distinctive seal for each trail segment in the frames indicated in the Passport. Upon completion of the Passport participants can earn free Wegmans reusable shopping bags and will be entered to win a $250 Wegmans gift card exclusive to Chautauqua County participants.  Gift card drawings take place in December.

“National Trails Day is celebrated annually on June 1st and serves as a reminder to get out there and explore our beautiful county,” states Lacey Wilson, Chautauqua County Public Health Director. “It is a day of service for hometown trails and a chance to celebrate the beauty of our county. The Wegmans Hit the Trail Passport provides a fun and free way for residents to be active in nature.  We encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity!”
