JAMESTOWN, NY - On Saturday, the Friends of Lake View Cemetery and the Lake View Cemetery Association dedicated the final 12 veteran markers at Soldier’s Circle.
In the late fall of 2021, local resident George Wiedenhofer started a fundraiser to collect money to purchase and place the final dozen markers on Soldier’s Circle.
With the aid and support of the community, veteran organizations, and the Friends of Lake View Cemetery, the funds were raised and the markers placed.
Thanks to the support, all veterans buried on Soldier’s Circle will now have their own marker.
More than $10,000 was raised in all, and the remaining balance will be used to provide memorials for the veterans of the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan wars.
