Hope and Healing Conference of Western New York

The Hope and Healing Conference of Western New York (WNY) returns for its eighth year. The conference will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Williams Center on the campus of the State University of New York at Fredonia, 280 Central Ave. in Fredonia, N.Y.

The event will include a keynote speaker, “FRED” talks and plenary sessions discussing prevention, treatment and recovery of the behavioral health challenges facing Chautauqua County and the Western New York region. This year’s conference will explore the theme, “Connecting for Hope and Healing,” focusing on shared partnerships, resources, triumphs and concerns as a community.

9– 9:15 a.m.     Opening Remarks:

1 – 1:10 p.m.     Break: Resource Tables

1:10 – 1:55 p.m.     Treatment is Available Panel

1:55 – 2:05 p.m.     Break: Resource Tables

2:05 – 2:50 p.m.     Recovery is Possible Panel

Hope & Healing of WNY will feature Matt Bellace, Phd as its keynote speaker. Dr. Bellace has a PhD in clinical neuropsychology and is a stand-up comedian. His funny and informative presentation will focus on the science of coping with stress and managing emotions using healthy lifestyle activities (e.g. exercise, meditation, laughter.) He uses humor, inspirational stories, audience participation and current research in the field of neuroscience to deliver a powerful message.

Hope and Healing Conference of WNY 2022 planning committee is excited to offer FRED talks, brief informational talks featuring local and regional providers sharing ways that they are making connections for hope and healing, again this year. Planning committee members include: The Chautauqua Center, Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services, Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene, CombatAddictionCHQ, Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES, HOPE Chautauqua, Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County, Prevention Works, State University of New York at Fredonia, Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County, Tapestry Resilience Initiative, Tobacco Free CCA and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Chautauqua (UPMC.)

Registration is required in advance and cost of attendance is $15per person. Registration includes a boxed lunch.
