Due to large group restrictions, this year the Glow Your Mind 5K Run/Walk will be a virtual event on August 22-23 in Lakewood, N.Y. All of the proceeds raised by the event stay local and will be used for suicide prevention efforts in Chautauqua County.
You can run or walk this virtual race from any location you choose anytime on August 22 or August 23. Choose the designated course in Lakewood or on any road, trail, or treadmill you want. You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Running and walking on your own, or with friends.
The designated race will begin in Lakewood at the corner of East Terrace and Chautauqua Avenues. The 5K course follows East Terrace Avenue east to East Summit Street, then west to Waldemere Way, then north to West Terrace Avenue, and back to the start at the corner of Chautauqua Avenue. The race route is flat and goes through a residential area. 5K participants are encouraged to download the Race Joy app to maximize their running experience. Runners may also follow their own route through the Race Joy app if they are not able to make it to Lakewood on race day.
The race registration fee is $10. The glow run is being put on through the collaboration of The Community Alliance for Suicide Prevention, Chautauqua Tapestry, and Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene.
