MAYVILLE, N.Y.: The National Training & Technical Assistance Center for Child, Youth, & Family Mental Health (NTTAC) is featuring staff and stakeholders of the Tapestry Resilience Initiative, Chautauqua County's System of Care to present "Youth Engagement Strategies in Higher Education Settings-Community of Practice Series," for the NTTAC August Office Hours series.

The presentation is broken into three sessions, held on August 10, 24, and 31, 2022. The community of practice will include Tapestry Resilience Initiative staff: Rachel Ludwig, Project Director; Christina Breen, Social Emotional Learning and Training Specialist; and Victoria Eckert, Community Engagement and Training Consultant. The third session in the series will feature a panel discussion, including Kirk D. Young, Ph.D., Vice President of Student Affairs of Jamestown Community College; Xavier Churnac, Residence Director of Jamestown Community College; Julie Paredes Social Media Coordinator of Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene; and Kevin P. Kearns, Ph.D., Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives at SUNY Fredonia.

The objective of these sessions is for participants to learn tools to ensure diverse, equitable, and inclusive partnerships that support and engage students on campus. Strategies for outreach and communication on college campuses will be discussed, including Identifying natural connections and systems champions, creating long-lasting strategic partnerships with shared responsibility, seeking opportunities for sustainable accountability pathways, and maintaining momentum after grant funding.

"As my passion is systems change work, I feel honored that through a national technical assistance center that provides training and resources to many federal grantees across the country – NTTAC- we can highlight the amazing work being done right here in Chautauqua County,” said Eckert. “This three-part series will lead conversations for other grantees looking for resources to increase youth engagement on college campuses as they develop mental health awareness initiatives and student wellness planning.”

These training sessions are free of charge. To register for the series or if you are interested in learning more about these and other training offered by NTTAC, visit https://nttacmentalhealth.otherg/trainings. To learn more about the Tapestry Resilience Initiative, please search @tapestrychq.
